How to: Create and Manage Impact Case Studies (ICS)
Impact Reviewer Menu
• If you have been assigned as a Reviewer or Moderator, and you are an Organisational Administrator, you will see a new menu item in the side
bar “Impact Reviewer”.• Expanding this menu item will reveal the 4 sub pages of Impact Reviewer: “My Reviews”, “New Review”, “Review Template” and “All
Reviews.
Case Study Review Template
• A case study review is structured into Tabs, with each Tab having it’s own set of questions or prompts for you to consider. This is the Review Template
• The Template displayed in the image (left) is the standard default review template, based on REF 2021 requirements
• Above the Tabs is some guidance text
• Below the selected Tab and to the left, is the document viewer.
• The PDF can be downloaded, printed and it’s possible to zoom in and out.
• To the right is the Tab specific Question set.
• Beside each question are radio buttons for Reviewers to provide a score and a comment box – these may be set to optional or mandatory in Review Template
• As an Organisational Administrator you can use the default template or create your own.
• The Overall Summary Tab is always the final Tab and enables Reviewers to provide an overall commentary, suggestions for improvement, grade the case study and submit for review
Review Template
• The Review Template landing page lists all Review Templates that have been created by you or other Organisational Administrators in your system
• The REF 2021 Review Template is standard and is set to Default
• You can click on the name of any Template name to view it
REF 2021 Template
•The default REF Template has 5 Tabs, one for each Section of a REF Impact Case study
• Each Section has it’s own set of Questions for Reviewers to answer
• None are set as mandatory
• If you want to use this template as the basis for your own review Template you can view(downward arrow), delete (trash icon) or edit (pencil icon) any existing Tabs or create your own (Add New Tab)
• Clicking the arrow, expands the Tab view and reveals the question set
• Note: This template can’t be changed therefore you will have to save as a New
Template if you want to change it
• The next few pages will show you how to create a template from scratch
